IPTV Ontario

Ontario is our biggest region — about 31% of members. Sportsnet Ontario, TSN 4, CP24 and the local stations, tuned for Rogers and Bell lines.

Ontario

What Ontario households actually watch

Almost a third of our members are in Ontario, so this is the lineup we get the most feedback on. These are the channels people ask about before they subscribe.

Leafs, Jays and Raptors

Sportsnet Ontario for the Leafs and Jays, Sportsnet ONE and 360 for overflow, TSN 4 for the regional feed and NBA TV Canada for the Raptors.

Local news that is actually local

CP24, CityNews Toronto, CTV Toronto, Global Toronto and CBC Toronto — the stations you would lose if you cut cable without checking.

4K where it counts

Sportsnet Ontario and TSN 1 stream in 4K on our servers. On a modern TV over a wired connection the difference on a hockey game is genuinely visible.

Rogers Ignite and Bell Fibe: both work well

Ontario is well served for internet, and both of the big providers handle IPTV comfortably.

Typical line quality on the main Ontario internet providers
ProviderTypeTypical latency4K streamingOur advice
Bell FibeFTTH9–16 msExcellentBest case for 4K sports in ON/QC.
Rogers IgniteCable DOCSIS12–24 msExcellentVery steady in the GTA.
CogecoCable DOCSIS15–28 msVery goodWire the box for best results.
StarlinkLEO satellite28–55 msGoodWorks, but keep a buffer for 4K.

Living in a condo or apartment? This is the single most common cause of buffering we see in Ontario, and it is almost never the internet plan. Shared 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi in a dense building is congested by dozens of neighbouring routers. Switch to 5 GHz, or better, run an Ethernet cable to the box. See how to fix IPTV buffering.

Questions from Ontario customers

Do I get Sportsnet Ontario specifically, or a different regional feed?

You get all of the Sportsnet regional feeds — Ontario, East, West and Pacific — plus ONE, 360 and World. On cable you are locked to the feed for your postal code. On IPTV you can flick between them, which is useful when a game is carried on a different regional feed.

Will I still get CP24 and local Toronto news?

Yes. CP24, CityNews Toronto, CTV Toronto, Global Toronto and CBC Toronto are all in the lineup. You can check any of them yourself in the channel search on our homepage before you buy.

I am on Rogers Ignite. Is that a problem since they also sell TV?

No. Rogers sells you an internet connection and what you do with it is your business. Rogers Ignite is one of the most stable lines in the GTA for streaming, typically 12 to 24 ms with low jitter.

How many TVs can I run in a family house?

The 6 Month plan covers 2 at the same time and the 12 Month plan covers 3. Most Ontario families take the 6 Month plan. If you need more simultaneous streams, message us and we can add connections.
