What a cable package really costs
A mid-tier Canadian TV package with the sports channels included generally lands somewhere between $90 and $150 a month once everything is added. The advertised price is rarely what you pay, because of:
- Equipment rental — $8 to $20 a month per box, and most homes have two or three.
- The sports tier — usually a separate add-on if you want all of TSN and Sportsnet.
- Promotional pricing expiring — the $79 deal becomes $124 in month 13.
- Regional add-ons if you want out-of-market games.
Over twelve months, $120 a month is $1,440 a year.

Where cable is genuinely better
We are not going to pretend otherwise, because you will find out anyway:
